I started off thinking it might be a good idea to journal about my thoughts, feelings, fears, celebrations as I go through this new life change. It was my sister, Julie, who told me I should blog about it. So here goes nothin'...
Last summer, several things occurred in my life: I completed a summer institute and taught a 70 minute Demo that I never thought I could pull off, I trained for and ran a half marathon, and I turned 39. It was all quite a whirlwind.
At some point during all the commotion, I started to get this overwhelming feeling of confidence. I woke up most days thinking I could conquer the world. Somewhere along the way, I started to think, Hm... maybe I need to have a BABY! And then everything went a little crazy.
When I first approached K about the idea, she was a bit skeptical, if not totally shocked. Her first words were, "Whoa, babe! I'm gonna need like a YEAR to process this!" My response? "Uh honey, this old gal doesn't have a year--we need to get on the stick!" (Literally).
So we did.
Our carefree, uninhibited, relaxed little life began to become filled with Internet searches, doctors' appointments, blood tests, sperm bank appointments, donor profiles, more blood tests, etc... This blog will be the chronicles of our journey to become parents.
